And the speed rating is?
Thanks for the explanations.
Where should I go from here? I can get what I have on there currently as part worn MOD stock for about £250 a corner.
Or, very roughly, what sort of money do custom rims cost, in order to make use of more common tyres?
For those that don't know, the 101 is six stud, so no common alternative rims, apart from the previously mentioned unimog rims.
Thank you
You are in luck Julian, I have just checked in the wheelery and there is a set of five 101 15" rims. A bit scabby but they will clean up, they came in a pile of 101 oddsnsods I bought. PM me if you are interested.

Having driven one after lusting after one since I was a kid the phrase for me was never meet your hero’s(well not all of them)Im not sure if ive ever exceeded motorway speed limit in the 101.
What i do know is that ive gone fast enough in it to be too scared to look down at the speedo.
...so probably at least 55mph.

@julianf 255 85 x 16's are available from the likes of Toyo, set of 4 new ones are about £500
Mathematically they work out at 33.7" so fairly close to your 34" target
Appreciate that the 101 is not the greatest of handling vehicles but there is less sidewall height if you stick with 16" rims
Again, I don't much understand this stuff, but wouldn't 315/75 r16 be preferable?
I'm not saying they are, I don't know, so that's why I'm asking!
Thank you.

Yes, those Toyo tires will fit. The specification includes 6.5" rims.
I've just measured the Goodyear bar grips, and they are about 890mm, so the Toyo tyres are a little smaller at 850. The vehicle will be an inch lower.

My mate ordered a brand new set of 255/100r16 Michelins for his 101 through Costco. He has been down the route of old stock MOD stuff before and they don't seem to last but I think the biggest issue with most of these is they do not get enough use to keep flexing/moving the tyres.
It is a bit a pain, I fitted the previous set for him and even though they had the same sizes the one set were quite a bit taller. The original 900x16 bar grips were noticeably smaller.
I have another friend who has a RHD radio body 101, he got fed up with all the messing about so fitted some 110 axles, not something for the purist especially given how rare his is but it's his daily driver. He now has discs all round and axles where stuff like bearings are cheap as chips even for OEM. He now has a massive choice of rims/tyres available.
