I looked at the cost of silent compressors, it's out of budget. And second hand prices are almost same as new. So I started building a compressor hut behind the garage. This took 2 hours to lay the slabs on a bed on concrete, and it's my first time doing any block work, so took half a day to get half the blocks up. Thankfully it's all compacted hardcore out there so no need for foundations. My shed sits on slabs on sand on grass and hasn't moved so I'm sure this will be fine.
I've started looking for acoustic foam, the stuff isn't cheap ! The commercial stuff is £13/sq.m so £130 to do my hut. People are suggesting rockwool, but that stuff holds water so worried it could hold damp from any water that creeps in. I found a supplier that ships from China at £4.80/sq.m, still comes to £50, but much better.
I'm going to run a 6mm twin+earth so I can have all three compressors running.

let us know how you get on with the oam oh and a link would be nice rock wall is great for sound proofing, you could also use sound board inside on the walls I used in the my front room and doubled it up with rock wall under neath and the results were amazing cant hear next door at all really now

This is the cheap acoustic form from China, they must have their prices wrong because buying in packs of 4 works out much cheaper than packs of 10. It costs £3.89 per sq m, so this is what I will go for.

I'm sure it all helps but I'd rather go for the proper stuff, it is neater, less faffing.

rockwall, it is great stuff as said it is bloody dense and heavy just like me! coupled with the sound board which is nearly 50kg a sheet you cant hear much

I laid 50 mm council slabs in the end instead of using fence posts.

actually i dont really care , its not like it runs for hours every day just occasional use. Neighbour is a PIA and no matter what we do seems to find a reason to come out and tutt unless they are after something ....like access to our wheelybin( in the garden!) or helping herself to some bricks through the fence!
Do you live the other side of our neighbor.
I built my compressor into a box and it was quiet but I am now going back to fix it as it failed on me last month. : (

wait until they want a nut taking of the lawn mower blade with the impact wrench! or similar! poxy neighbours lol all moaning until they want something!

My neighbours are brilliant. One is never there and the house looks like it's not had any money spent on it in 30 years. Other side is a farmer and his son used to be a boiler engineer. I had a tree cut down after we moved in, offered a cubic meter of logs I couldn't store for nothing and now they do me favours all the time. Fixed my oil boiler, pushed my flue liner down using their forklift tractor, take in my parcels, let me use their fields for shooting. I try to do favours for them/ offer money/ alcohol but they never accept.
When I was doing all the work on my house for months on end till 9 at night - never mentioned it. The only time they did was when I brought it up and he said "yeh I heard a bit of banging, what you been doing?" I think banging was an understatement. Hardly stopped chasing walls with the power drill in all that time. I even had a fire burning for days on end for the twigs from the tree, not a word.
Only problem is, his fence dividing our gardens needs looking at and he probably wouldn't be in a hurry to sort it if it collapsed. It's on its way. But for such a great family I'd probably just tell him I'm going to get it done and he wouldn't mind and neither would I.
I feel sorry for you lot that don't have it as good as me. Some people have nothing better to do than moan. We share this world with lots of other people and silence isn't given right.
