Cleaned up the base plate a little then refitted. Interestingly Triumph supplied a modified feed pipe for the in line fuel filter as you can no longer get the shaped pipe…..more on that later. They also modified the flow direction for the filter and gave it a new updated part number so you don’t need to tweak anything to get it out due to the crimped edge, it just now slides in from the other side.

As may have read above, I have the second Daytona and once I’ve proven that this fuel pump is fully operational and the tank is leak free, I’m going to test fit to the other non runner along with my battery and start relays to see if the other one runs.
So, coming back to the bent fuel feed pipe that Triumph no longer supply.…..I bought some 8mm fuel pipe and a set of pipe bending springs.

I placed the a spring in one end and replicated the original shape, I then got out my hot air gun set to around 400 degrees and warmed the pipe then left to cool on its own, hoping that it would retain its shape, then once cool swapped for a smaller spring and left it tie wrapped in shape and I also did the same on the other end and then left that the vice overnight.

This morning I went up to check the results….very pleasing.
I’ll keep this one now so I can rebuild the second pump with the only financial outlay being the inline filter at £47 (*** pirates is right too!)

Is the filter not available aftermarket? be amazed if they didnt just get something off the shelf rather than re-invent the wheel?

Possibly mate but mine came from Triumph. Daylight robbery. They used to sell a three filter pack for £175!

Got my fitting kit this week for my old Constands spider stand. Removed the Abba style one yesterday and swapped out the fixings to allow fitment. Much better than the Abba which can be awkward on your own. This one you just hold the bike upright, slide it in to the frame adaptor and swing the handle to elevate to any height between being sat upright but both wheels on the floor or full up with both wheels cleared of the floor by about 3 inches and any point in between due to the removable pawl that ratchets up the column.
It’s also ideal for creating space as you can wheel it in against the wall thereby increasing the floor space. You can also just pull out the front or rear.

With a view to clearing some space I thought it was time to find out the status of the cheap SPARE T595 I bought. Tank is fecked due to ethanol and needs paint. I also lost the keys for it which p’d me off. Got the seat barrel out and got a local locksmith to cut me the correct profile and a spare for £30. Then promptly found the original keys !

Anyway, once I found the keys and the seats were off to remove the barrel I decided to throw a battery on it and give it a shot on 6 year only petrol.
Fired up first time but hammering out black smoke on a hard throttle, so assuming it’s had a poor remap to suit the high level can, but that’s an easy fix with TuneECU software.

With that sorted I thought I’d get stuck in.
So, tank removed and as it was popping whilst being revved, I decided first to get attention was the IACV which controls the idle and the rubber was always prone to cracking and drawing air causing it to weaken the mixture and as I had 3m of 6mm silicone pipe here for the other T595 which had the same issue, I removed the airbox and the idle air control valve and replaced them. I also found the airbox had a massive crack and a hole which again would cause issues with unmetered air affecting the mixture, so I plastic welded the airbox too.

I’m gonna throw some PlastX-6 plastic filler in that before I’m done.
So upon removing the panels it was clear that there was an issue up front as someone had taped the upper fairing to hide a repair and the replicated the black stripe on the other side to match it not very convincing!

So off it came, and I found a poor fibreglass repair which I cut out. Sourced a plastic bumper for material then plastic welded in the repair peice. It’s not pretty but seems to hide well enough if you grind back enough to get some depth of filler on it. I’ve since rubbed it down and gave another coat on it to hide the low spots. Also had to grind out a crack and plastic weld both sides as only one side created stress cracks when sanding so it clearly required more strength.

…and on to the bellypan. Some muppet punched a hole in it and decided a piece of mesh siliconed to the inside was enough to hide it! I’ll be honest, as it’s low down, I didn’t see it!
Back to my plastic welder and some heat from an hot gun and the repair is coming along. If I get time later, I’m gonna try sand down the last coat of filler.

Just sold it about a month back. Still got the pile of spares thought. 2 engines, looms, swingarms, tanks, wheels, levers, calipers, controls, fuel pump, cdi, carbs and much more. Guy was gonna give me £400 for the lot but radio silence since.

Fuel pumps like rocking horse poo fetch over a ton, carbs the same, even got share Dyna coils! Engines alone have to be worth £200 each. Dont get it!
