Info on an old compressor

I'm looking for details on a compressor what model it is and it's CFM rating etc. It's lost its body but has a plate. It's 1977 Holman Compair. I've contacted compair who have been less than helpful. Any advice would be great

All that means nothing,you need the model number which will then give the the CFM ie whatever model it is thats the CFM size.

CompAir are still about, ring them and ask if they can help. Failing than the Hp of the engine should give a rough idea if you compare it with similar machines.

All I can gather is it has a ford 2711E motor in it, the canopy is non existent

A 4 cyl? That an old girl! I think have a service book for the gen set version laying in the workshop, I will look up the power output tomorrow .

Show us some more pics,I came across an 84 model on the net, means nothing but it was 275cfm.

77 is pretty much an old horse and maybe Holman Howden compair don't think its worth bothering their back history files for looking it up.

Shame,some companies have a page on their sites for looking up older models but tha company only go back as far as mid/late 80's

Hah! you're buying,thought you was selling. :-) I would not pay that price for it,£750 would be my max but then again I've seen a few of the holmans on machinery auctions whilst browsing for a morticer.

4 cylinders though could be something less than 200cfm? because that one I gave you a link to is 6 cylinders and thats 275cfm,maybe thats why the seller is not stating the model? or knows the model and is keeping stum because its a low cfm?

if your buying it u want to see it running for at least half an hour and run it up to full speed to make sure it dont boil over and allso p..iss oil through the airline if its a non runner it will cost a fortune in spares if needed i doubt that one will be any bigger than 150cfm

Yes, be careful. The cost of rebuilding that compressor unit could be very high.

it's want to be cheep and working tbh. and i wouldn't go takeing it apart for a project.

those old ford engines seem to somwhat PITA, parts can usally be had cheep from agriline as no dought it'll be found in a few tractors but 50P says it'll be a sod to start or have a sump full of water if not both.

ford engine blocks round then had a habbit of going porus and only real fix is to rebuild them and fit top hat liners, problem is being dry liner blocks they don't slide out they neeed boreing out, then a recess for the top hat cutting then new liner pressed in and bored/ honed to suit.
bebuild kit for the engines is about £350 block macheneing will likely cost the same.

only problem with doing all that is at the end of it the air end might not be much cop
