Best price on MoneySupermarket so far is £354. Compare the Market appears to be down, I just get eeither a black screen or a screen where no links are active.

Re-insured the1990 Discovery , last year £173 , renewal after a bit of a search £136 .

2010 Octavia next , was £120 , last year looks like £142 is the best I can find this year .

Hikes like this are probably due to the amount of big hits they have had through flooding etc. Unfortunately underwriting is underwriting and anything that dents the "pot" globally can have a significant effect on premiums whether motoring or household.

We had a monumental hike in Fleetplan,EL and PL premiums a few years ago, this was down to flooding in Auz. Fathom that one out, it was such a hit within the insurance world it made them take a very good look at their exposure elsewhere.

Snaith near here had never had flooding
Leeds upstream did loads of barrier work basically to stop a few carparks flooding,
last year snaith got 2 foot of water in the high street,

I'm not sure in truth. Gloucester / Tewkesbury is always prone but I put a lot of that down to building on all the well known flood plains.

Indeed. Watching all these Police interceptor type programmes, it appears there is very little in the way of punishment.

Just had the renewal through for my Renault Master, £173, which is £2 less than last year. Go figure ?

Well I had the dis pleasure of trying to renew my defender policy……price wasnt too bad with the existing outfit, though there a nightmare to communicate with. But wanted 5000 xs…..because apparently a 90 xs is high risk!

So then tried the same outfit our pick up is with, couldnt find the correct model on there data base! What a chew

Once had a Land Rover “specialist” insurer ask me if the 1953 series one I was getting a quote for was fitted with a factory alarm and immobiliser. When I told them it didn’t even have locking doors they refused to quote

Got a really good quote fromgo compare….a company Id not herd of. I rang them to check few details…phone answered Adrian Flux. Went through details, turns out go compare had my defender 90 xs TDi as a defender 90 4 door pick up for some reason. They requote with correct details from 235 to 885….errrr how did that happen!

Went through details, turns out go compare had my defender 90 xs TDi as a defender 90 4 door pick up for some reason. They requote with correct details from 235 to 885….errrr how did that happen!

It’s ridiculous. Also had an argument over a disco v8 I had, they wouldn’t accept that it was 3.5 not a 3.9. And then when I finally got some sense into them it was cheaper than my other tdi disco by 150 quid

Flux's numbers are generated by a roulette spin. There is never any sense in them.

"If you find cheaper, give us a call back, and we'll see if we can lower it"

"Your chance to do that is now. If I find cheaper I won't be coming back"

Adrian Flux ! I hope you never have to claim. They are hopeless.

There have been four Defenders taken from around here in the last year. So yes, they are a target, and I am thinking about getting rid of mine because of this.
Mine is old though, a 1985 V8 90 SW. Will be coming up to being tax exempt soon, but seems like too much of a liability.

Reinsured it via Confused.com. £137 fully comp. Limited to 3000 miles p.a. though.
