That's exactly what I think the hitch pictured is, at least I'm 95% sure, a standard tractor PUH ring. It looks like one and the measurement of 55mm sounds just about right, without going and actually measuring one. I know they're a little over 50mm because they drop nicely over a 50mm towball...

that shouldnt be a fixed eye on your trailer BTW, coz it moves in and out and around about in the coupling shaft bushing.

The NATO ring has a internal diameter of 76mm so it should be easy to check

typical how the yanks can have all the fun?? in uk you would be pulled up and hung drawn and quartered if you had that behind your motorhome or disco

It amazes me the trailers Yanks pull. They think nothing of a 14,000lb trailer which is about 7 tons! They do huge swan neck trailers for their pickups that go to about 20 tons!
Having said that the axles that they classify as 3500kg would be 2000 here! And often they only have 1 set of wheels braked!
