I suspect someone at Jaguar is laughing at how much talk there is about the brand right now. All publicity is good publicity, as they say.

I don’t think we’d have a 7 page discussion on this forum if their new ad was ‘ordinary’.

This just got sent to me today - if true the "Net Zero" regulations aren't as simple as "Car manufacturers must go EV only" by 2030 / 2035.

According to the article Net Zero is actually a sliding scale of "EV + fuel efficient (Hybrid?) cars". No reason why manufacturers can't move to Hybrid as a default with EVs for those who want them. https://newautomotive.substack.com/p/catch-22-how-carmakers-can-meet-uk

Regardless, unless things change very soon - it may already be too late - car manufacturers will stop selling ICE cars

Late edit: I have just seen a question asking if the "Hybrids count towards Net Zero" is a new section that has been added to the legislation as everyone remembers the original being advertised as "EV only - no ICE" (no mention of hybrids) which is what the car manufacturers have been working towards

Make sense. I think 125 mile range hybrids would get folk electrically acclimatised to the EV concept. Giving a smooth gradual switch with folks not feeling forced by the elected.

I have both an EV and a hybrid...we don't really use the EV anymore as the hybrid is cheaper to run for longer trips .

Public charger electricity prices are very very high!

Not a fan of that colour...

But i do really like the shape of it, looks reyt good i think. especially the rear of it with that fastback

just a shame it won't have a V8 to along with it

I think the side profile looks good, but not a fan of the grill of the rear styling.

But it's all kind of a moot point. Jaguar Land Rover are one of the worst in terms of electronics reliability (at least they were a few years back, don't know anything about the last 5 years as I don't work on cars now). If they couldn't get the electronics and electrics right in a "normal car" they have no chance in an electric car IMHO.

Sorry folks but to me that takes ugliness to a new extreme.
Not bad attempt for a nine year old with a couple of crayons I suppose ,but it doesn't matter as it will never see the light of day.

MG may be chinese tat, but are sensibly priced, and backed by 7 year warranty. Unlike jags, over priced, and short 3 year warranty. Have you driven one?

To be fair it's not difficult to do that when you're subsidised by the Chinese government
