at this time of year christmas cards.... models, props for a theatre, do a fair amount of shelving for displays for people with small craft fayre stalls
And what ever people ask for!
what sort of costs are the 100w omtech and what will they cut?
I was lucky and got my 100w just before Puppydog went live... so saved a bout £600, mine was
£2600 machine,
£300 Chiller
£140 Air Pump
£40 Extractor
I bought the last 3 in the UK from amazon ebay or screwfix.
I can cut anything from 80gsm paper through to 12mm ply.
I also cut acrylic, leather, Laser MDF, Wood (real wood rather than ply although I can cut that).
Basically as long as its not a chloride and not metal I can cut it.

It's just that it's a lot of money to cut just wood.
It is, but for me it's more than paid its self back with craft fayre and stuff, I have bought a drum sander to make sanding easier and have added dye sublimination as an additional so can make mugs and coasters and t shirts with images on as well as cutting acrylic and putting images on that for exampleIt's just that it's a lot of money to cut just wood.
Interesting thread, I used to use a Laserite 30w Rf tube machine all the time at the school i worked at a few years ago. It was a good machine until our service provider upgraded it to RD works software which was a ruddy nightmare.
I miss not having access to it as it often got used for homework! Been thinking of getting one for some time. Best you tube channel i have seen is Sarbar Multimedia, the guy has done hundreds of vids on lasers in general & modding the k40, he is seriously into the science of how they work but explains it all in a way that anyone can understand.
I fitted the extraction system into my workshop last year so better get on with spending out!

The place that i outsource laser work on alloy to uses nitrogen.

Go on, you know you want one
Dont do it... it takes over, my first was as 5w (really more like a half watt but you know what china are like for telling the truth) that was like £40 and could cut paper and engrave wood, then came the k40 then the k50 then the 100w and now have an ortur diode for on site engraving .... but its fun really
Errrr.... Sublinova is the brand.
When you need more try out subproDS from Ink4inkjet.
It's does not clog like sublinova as that's designed for wide format heads as opposed to the Epson heads.
And it's more vibrant colours.

Nope. Should be good enough to remove etch resist but not copper

Ill have a look at that when I need more, not had any issues with Sublinova yet mind you.
