I was thinking bolognese sauce
There's gaskets between the hinges to the body. Just the stainless bolts will touch all other materials. Not a good mix of differential metals is it. Are there any gaskets between them?
Well they're anodised. The hinges have gaskets between the body, it's just the bolts touching the hinges.Stainless bolts into steel is fine, in fact there are advantages. Galvanic corrosion only occurs in the presence of an electrolyte (read salty water) so as long as it is all well painted and sealed, again it should be fine.
Oh yesIs that because of what's written on the tape?
A friend of mine bought a 90 a year older than that with the rubbish turbo diesel engine. He took the body off, repainted it and repaired the chassis then put it back together and ran it but the engine was dire so he has fitted a 300tdi from a Disco and it is now a really usable motor in every sense, power, reliability and fuel consumption improved.
If you can't get the pillar in with door on think of the pain you are going to have after making the door fit. We spent all afternoon jacking the door surround into shape with 3x2 and pushers to make a driver's door fit something like, still not perfect but safe enough to go round a corner without the door flying open.
I've been looking at the pics of the pillars and really trying to figure out how they integrate with everything around them to no avail. Also thinking "what's the problem, those B pillars are sat there sticking up in the air fine.
I have just this second twigged...
Those are C posts/pillars
A is bulkhead, B is rear of front doors/front of rear doors, C is rear of rear doors - and so on.

The rusty bent ones are not B pillars, the B pillars have been pointing skyward for a couple of pages...
In all honesty though, the items in those pictures are not good, they are not immediately usable and they certainly require more than no work...
I could do that but I'm going to ask for a refund and order some brand new ones. I need to work out which ones to order but I'm not putting up with the time it's taken to receive this crap. Can you drill out the spot welds and separate the 'D' post from the bottom rail, dress the bottom flanges and rail back to shape, fit it to the vehicle, fit the doors, then fit the 'D' post in, get the gaps and door fit right and weld it back together again? That way you will end up with doors that fit better than factory. Who'd have thought that was possible?
Colin
Hi, Actually the front door hinges on the 'A' post and closes on the 'B' post, the rear door hinges on the 'C' post and closes on the 'D' post. So the post between the front and rear door is the B/C post and the one that's fu...bent is the 'D' post.
I am sort of but some things I can't. I'd have a seizure if I realised truly how expensive it is.I hope you're NOT keeping a record of how much you're spending
He has. I'm going to send them back to him. Then get my £300 back.Has the supplier of the bent ones accepted the return and will he refund you?
