Simply slipped over on a wet floor and ripped the tendon off the bone View attachment 238385

I had clips in my second knee replacement rather than stitches, Ended up with it infected and not healing very well Then to make it worse, I was hacking some small branches off a big one that I removed from a cherry tree on our back garden, The machette was shaving sharp, It went through the branch like a hot knife through butter!

I stuck it in my new knee right through the scar, It bounced off and sliced a lump out of my other leg!!

I shouldn't be allowed sharp fings!!

If it weren't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all!!

They’ve faded quite well now but back in (I think) 2001 I was feeding some rubberised material onto a tyre-building drum with the applicator tray down. My hand was pulled into a gap of around 20mm up to my mid forearm. I was trying to pull my hand out but my foot was still on the pedal, driving the drum backwards taking skin off my forearm.
I ripped the back of my hand right open in two places. I could see the tendons moving as I wiggled my fingers.
It took a while to regain full grip strength but fortunately no major damage. As it healed the tendons stuck to the scar tissue but after a while they seemed to release and other than tingling if I touched it all was fine.
The most painful part of it was having it cleaned in A&E, I went into mild shock.

The correct procedure after this happens is to take his hand and squeeze.

ive seen some really nasty degloving injuries

I gave that a like but it doesnt seen right.
But I think there is a genuine need to see and talk about injuries like degloving.
So many people don't understand until you tell them to search on google. Have never worn any jewellery or a metal watch, the risk is too high when constantly working in and around spinning tools and electricity.

Only thing I ever wore was a ti wedding ring
Took it off a couple of years ago as I slammed the van door and it snagged.

My daughter lost the top 1/4" (might have been 6mm ) of her ring finger a few years ago.
We were talking to the surgeon/consultant post-op and he was telling us 90% of his work is fixing degloving injuries caused by people catching rings as they step off ladders after hanging curtains
Apparently, thumb rings are the worst: you barely notice one finger missing (apparently), but you definitely notice a missing thumb.

Daughter hasn't worn rings since.

Sadly I don't have any photographic evidence, and it didn't happen to me but, I did have to cut a wedding ring off a young chaps finger after it got caught in the netting on an aircraft pallet. They get up a good head of steam when they are being offloaded! The finger survived but the wedding ring not so much! As I recall, his boss dragged him over to me as the aircraft engineer thinking I could saw it off! I did ask if he meant the ring ir the finger. Weirdly neither of them saw the funny side. I didn't, I used a pair of snips to cut it and then carefully bent it out of the blood and flesh using the snips and a pair of pliers. All disinfected of course!

On the subject of i have a blacker cat than you its just as well i dont have a photo & its faded now but once upon a time aged about 15 i was cutting some sheet lead up with a big old set of blunt tin snips, these were the ones with no stop just behind the hinge but where the long handles came together at the end......
Result was as i gave it large they snapped shut upon the end of my gentlemans sausage, I had a massive (deleted due to pc considerations) pinch & had a neat scar for some years.

Apparently, thumb rings are the worst: you barely notice one finger missing (apparently), but you definitely notice a missing thumb.

It's very common to surgically remove a finger to fit back on in place of a thumb, as without the pinch ability a hand has seriously reduced function.

I can recall when I was about 15, Three or four of us got on a Morris Minor bonnet and went down a steep slippery grass embankment, We hit a rock and the bonnet stopped dead, We all carried on but I found the bonnet hook, It tore the **** out of my brand new Levi jeans and and left me leaking claret through a gash in my right cheek of about four inches in length, It stung a bit!!
