I restarted my delayed bathroom project yesterday to find that I am short of at least 20 tiles. I wonder if there is any chance that someone here has a few lying about, surplus? I have been in touch with B&Q who apparently have destroyed all their old stock.

The area that I am short of tiles for is above the window. I have enough to do the missing tiles on the other walls. I am thinking, remove the four tiles to the left of the window and then tile the whole lot in a contrast tile. The windowsill covered by the clutter needs tiling too, I'm thinking in the same contrast. Then we have the decision about what to do with the tiles inside the window reveal on the left, remove and replace or leave as they are.

What we need is some artistic opinions here, maybe from the ladies?
My apologies for 'er indoors' clutter, I don't have enough time to clear it all out!

I can see what you are saying and am inclined to agree. I am not keen on having to remove all those tiles though!

chisel the plaster off then plaster wall soak the tiles then you can throw in other coloured tiles

as a mix and match of tiles your choice really

Here is my chosen tile. Very close in shade, similar pattern. It is just a very different size, 600 x 200 rather than 400 x 245.

My first thought was to cut them to 300 x 200 so that the grout lines match. However it would be far easier to use full tiles. The pattern is vertical so it would be obviously different.

I could remove the four tiles on the window reveal if I had to, but prefer not because of the plaster damage.

'Er indoors is leaving it up to me; thanks a bunch!

If you mean EVERYTHING, that is not going to even be a remote possibility. If you mean the four and a bit in the reveal then I would be prepared to do that.

I saved a guy from wife damage a while back, he was short 15 tiles, i came up with the idea of not tiling behind the radiator and then making a nice rad cover, she loved it so much that every room is getting a cover now

I had a contractor tiling a bathroom who noticed that one box were slightly darker than the rest . Had a brilliant idea to incorporate them where the shadow of the shower curtain rail ran. Typical the first neighbour to inspect the bathroom noticed . Great effort no prize.

Some progress has been made, but I have made a cock up that someone might have a solution for...

I was going to use 6mm quadrant on the edges until I found that it was too shallow so I ripped it out as much as I could whilst the adhesive was going off. I had pinned it in a few places so now I have pieces of the plastic left behind. That is not a big issue because I can just trim the flange of the new quadrant to miss it.

The big issue is that there is now too much tile for the 9mm quadrant to fit behind. I estimate that I need to trim off 5mm+ from the exposed tile edges for it all to fit together nicely. The tiles cannot be removed so whatever I do has to be in situ. I have pondered various ideas, an aluminium straight edge and then scribing the waste, followed by tapping the edge with a hammer?
A diamond disc in an angry grinder, except that I can't have water flowing and I cannot go right to the top without ceiling damage?
Grinding the edge somehow? A manual file has little impression apart from chipping the tile edge finish.
