M5 alu head thread repair options?

Never fitted them with threadlock. Never had one unwind, including the one in a machine in a plant in Spain that I didn't know had one in - screw felt stiff, so was running a tap in to clear it when I realised . . . Smallest ones I've used are M3.

I wouldn't be assembling anything with permanent threadlock - if I had to, I'd use medium/blue - but not into an insert.

I can't see it doing any harm.

I appreciate you don't use it. And never had a problem. That's good.

This is a high temp, high vibration application. The old bolts stripped their threads hence why im here now! I will be using permanent threadlock.

Back together and bolts torqued up nicely - the heli coils feel solid

I used this saw all day today. Off and on all day and it ran perfectly. So whilst it's early days for sure the thread repair appears solid.

I got to use this kit again today. The K760 consaw I bought recently was rough as all and PO had cross threaded an m6 or similar bolt ramming into the casing.

It was so tight it snapped off a good torx bit I have had for years. So I welded on a nut to extract it. Then added a M5 thread repair so I can use an original spec head bolt again.

Another common 5mm thread repair needed is in the plastics on some of this kit, normally on the coarse screws but once stripped can be converted/restored to 5mm.
5mm woodserts come in a few flavours, I prefer these. A smear of araldite and wind them in.
