gr8 stuff that wd40 can be used on loads of stuff not just to loosen old nuts like me hahaaasquirt with WD40
and have you tried it both ways?
Look on the bright side, at least you've got a handful of 'handy' screws.........gearbox and bearing housing toast. Moulding around the front bearing all wallered out....

Found one of my old Makita tool kits today, been a long time in storage; going to try charging the batteries up, fingers crossed.

An antique 9.6v Makita. As used by plasterboard fixers. They are indestructible. Pretty sure that it will work straight after you remove the furry green corrosion from the battery socket in the drill.
Thanks, I will have a look.the battery contacts in the drill body will almost certainly have that horrible green corrosion on them. Dismantle and clean. New batteries of the bay are cheap enough

Has anyone got an old charger for those long oval batteries, I have a 90deg Makita drill and a battery that may revive but no charger........... that I can find..... my other antique Makita drills have those squat red batteries,
