As the others said it might be a copy so contact both reseller and Makita directly. If the reseller is an authorized Makita dealer doing things by the side Makita would certainly want to know. I have a number of Makita tools but never seen a casing like that. My jigsaw is the djv181 so not comparable but, made in the UK too and a lot better looking casing edges than yours.
I buy both in shop and on-line but check first that they are authorized dealers. Have found one on-line dealer here that has lower prices than anyone else but not listed at Makita dealer list, might be good or not.

it dont look like makita quality to me either, there are lots of fake makita kit about. I would compare it to a known real one in another tool shop before making my mind up. If you are not happy with it send it back, consumer rights and all that

@Welderpaul unless its your job day in day out using a router an expensive one is not the way with them

If this is a fake then Makita Uk Direct will be the place to go/ask, if the seller is trying it on then they will just swap for a genuine one.
Looking at mine it does seem to have a similar shaped burr just mine has been flattened off. I've certainly not noticed it before and this jigsaw has some miles on it.

if you contact Makita give them the serial number of it and they can tell you when and where it was made

Never had an issue with dewalt. Always been bomb proof. Recently started acquiring new gen 18v gear and its all spot on.
Best router ive owned and still own years later is the Hitachi m12 v2
Id probably replace like for like or with this one.
V2 has a screw you can engage for fine depth adjustment but tbh ive rarely used it.

Many years ago when I sold tools for a living a few wholesalers sold unbranded power tools Blue ones with a sheet of Makita stickers and yellow yes you know the story.
I do notice stuff just isn't as well finished as it was, my Ryobi stuff is a much better finish but I see it as a cheaper tool

ours is older than that version had it years now and still on its first bushes ours dosnt have the slow down feature variable speed jigsaw is also the same both by hitachi
also have another one as well

It's their MT series, targeting DIY customers with a lower price (made in China). Compare Bosch blue and green.
If you are buying new register it all online straight away it extends the warranty makes warranty claims easier and also acts as a serial number store to give to the police should they be stolen it will also flag up if the product is not recognised when you type the serial number in flagging it up as fake
I entered 1 digit wrong before and the online system flagged it up as wrong so obviously knows all the tools already

I can second that my they are my preferred routers for putting in router tables, will run hard all day, every without missing a beat.

The clue is on the sticker...made in uk by overpaid workers with chinese moulded parts...my comments will roughen a few feathers !
