Marking Blue

It comes in just after the longstand, tin of elbow grease etc….though I suspect HSE dept might not like coshh implications of blue ears. Works a treat on the head band of hard hats for baldy folk!

Someone did a lads hard had band in the yard, so he took it off. One of the steel monkeys dropped a 50mm spanner off the casing of the sun and it hit the lad squared on top of his hard had. Hat band minus the padding dug into his forehead and removed a decent chunk

Whatever you have to hand, been on site Chalk line power, either in the headband or better still in boots, 8-12hrs of hot sweaty feet sure does make the dye soak in

2 separate products with separate uses

The op has a paste that is very slow or never sets, applied to one face then used to highlight (literally) high or low spots on an adjacent face ... keyword is usually marking blue ... ideal for checking fit or flatness

Other type is layout blue ... dries fast and surprisingly is to make laying or setting out more visible on low contrast surfaces... no good for checking flatness or fit but great for accurate setting out

This has inspired me to buy a Pentel XL blue (sharpie magnum blue hard to get).

I have the Dykem bottle, but I find the brush is a bit coarse and lays it on too thick. When marking out, the colour flakes away from the scribe line.

Add a little solvent

A sharpie down the edge of a blade works well for a witness mark. (mind your pinkies)
