Just wondered, as I have some standard pattern gears here, (came mixed in with the Drummonds), which are no use to me for the Drummonds. I'll not be using them as I don't want to risk any mix-ups. I've already got a couple of Drummond gears with missing teeth due to some previous owner dropping that faux-pas. If you let me know the tooth counts, I'll see if I have owt which may help. You may have to rebore or sleeve, and sort a keyway though.
Out of interest how would you confirm pressure angle. You need to check the DP of your gears to see if they match. Checking is easy. Take the tooth count, add two and divide by the diameter in inches. So if your 80 tooth gear is 5.125" diameter it's 82/5.125 = 16, it would be a 16DP gear.
Of course to check if your gears are the same DP all you need actually do is compare the diameters of the same tooth count gears, but knowing the DP helps. After that all they need to be is the same pressure angle, which being that old they probably are both 14.5degrees.
Well if you have anything close to the above I'd be happy to take them off you. Got a couple of donors for boring here already. Can't recall on mine whether the non Drummond gears are a different DP, PA or both, (I think I have a mix of both), but I know they mesh like dogs. I freehand mesh them to check, whenever I think one looks suspect. You can generally tell by eye that something's not right.
Yes. It's slightly bigger than the ml7. And heavier built. Huge weight for a machine of its size. Will strip down and clean and oil and adjustment.I really really like that spencer. That’s a stunning little thing.
Looks really well built for its size. What is it regarding size wise? Is it bigger than the ml1
I will be keeping them. Once the Mellor is sorted I can have a rerange and sort out.Nice. Yes it looks a solid little lump. An absolute bargain for what you paid.
Are you going to be moving any of these on once done are are you keeping them all.
4 of them now isn’t it?

Oh god!!!!. Didn’t you learn the last time you pulled one apartBeen busy today. Started cleaning the Mellor. Starting with the tailstock. A complete strip down and clean. Once I started I realised I had offset tailstock facilities . An added bonus that was.View attachment 123826 View attachment 123827

Yes. But everything is in good order on this one. Just needed a good clean and oilOh god!!!!. Didn’t you learn the last time you pulled one apart
It's note broke. But does need a good clean and oil.Apart from the belts it doesnt look broke!
What he said. Bedway oil is equally good for lubricating the gears as it sticks on like dogtoffee to a blanket.A slip of paper between gears gives suitable clearance when setting them.
