Had a good day and got lots done. All back together now. Lead screw done. Just got the gears and headstock to do tomorrow.

Other side screw done and all its associated fittings. Headstock stripped and ready to be cleaned. Bearings in good order. Fantastic engineering on this machine.

Evening guys.
Am getting there. Headstock stripped and rebuild progress. I didn't remove the bronze bushings as they are tight and didn't want to damage them. The oil galleries underneath them were full of crud. All cleaned and sorted. The main spindle had some pitting. But a good clean and managed to flatten most of it.

Been brousing the internet looking at Mellor lathes and found some intresting pictures. First being the missing gear and star handle. And secondly what looks like to be raising blocks for the headstock and tailstock.

In the absence of a gap bed, they would increase capacity. Assume they were factory options?

Yes. I only just noticed them. When I get my shaper sorted I could possibly make a set.

Another question guys. I found a place that makes the leather belts for the lathe. But noticed on this picture what looks like a modern serpentine belt. Do they make this style of belt with out the ribs.

Yer..just thought about that.... Only other part I am missing is the fixed or travelling steady. Might be able to use a myford one or similar
