Am looking forward to getting it running. Got to find a new tool post as the one that came with it is naffed...Looking forward to seeing the first thing you produce on it.
It will be a while!Looking forward to seeing the first thing you produce on it.
Yes. Well the Colchester might have to go.It will be a while!
He’s got another 3 to rebuild
Best get that shaper working then. Make one to suit easy enough to get you turning.Am looking forward to getting it running. Got to find a new tool post as the one that came with it is naffed...

The Colchester will probably go to make way for a milling machine. So, you're not going to go for the full set?
That's next on the list to sort.Best get that shaper working then. Make one to suit easy enough to get you turning.
a quarter hp wont give much poke better with a 1/3 hp or a halfManaged to get the motor out it's bracket. A proper nightmare job as the bracket had seized. The motor itself looks like it's cam out the ark .... and really bad wiring...thinking of replacing the motor.View attachment 124443 View attachment 124444 View attachment 124445
Yer. Will replace it.a quarter hp wont give much poke better with a 1/3 hp or a half
*The only thing to consider is that it'll wear the numbers off the back, so in 20+ years time when it needs replacement you'll have to measure it rather than order by numbers. Probably not of great concern...
Or, write the belt numbers on the teeth with a sharpie/indelible pen?
Well, if you're one of those folk that can do this whole organisation thing...
I was going to. But them cam belt was the first thing I put my hands on.Would it not be easier to just use a poly-v belt the right way round and have the rubbery bit inside? Unless you're using the belt at its absolute limit of power transmission the wear rate in domestic/hobby lathe use will be negligible.
