i use a lux meter sometimes there only 80 quid for a decent one. i used it a lot when led 1st came out because they were crap still use it now and then but only when a punter says the lighting isnt as good and it shuts them up when you test with itIt was interesting when we did the big shed, there was a mistake somewhere in the design stage and most of the lights were installed at the wrong spacing, shed still looked really bright but walking down the passage way with a lux meter showed it dropping off quite a lot when you were mid point between the 2 lights, they altered all the lights to the correct spacing and to the naked eye there seems no difference but walking about with the lux metre shows a far more even reading, you do get ahigh reading directly below them but not the big drop off like before.
