Anyone know where I can get some fine or very fine grit sand?
It may work but oil/cornstarch are going to burn/smell/go rancid.
Another idea is a light coat of plaster before the sand. There should be enough moisture to get a bond to set. Need to be heat gunned to dry out but should give detail and surface finish.
Ive got a bronze trophy coin thing looks cast. Im going to try molding that as a test to see what detail I can pick up.
Last pour. Ive been too lazy to edit the rest.
Thanks! The clean brass is still boxed, I used dirty old stuff, theres a tap or two, some nuts. That's ace! Is that from the clean plumbing scrap I sent you?

There was plenty of dross, 200g, half is powdery rubbish and the other half looks like clean metal that stuck to the spoon so that can be remelted. I'll use it next time as, if it doesnt go into the melt atleast it will float and protect the stuff below.
How is the cow print? I think Im ready to try it.
Black background is better with photogrammetry.... Looks pretty good though.Attended the pub this afternoon for an all too brief single pint. Took a load more photos of the cow ornament. Tried taking them outside on the bench but the sun was too low by then and casting shadows. Came inside and just snapped away with the cow on the bar and flash on.
Lad ran it through Meshroom. Still not overly impressed.
Then he tried 3DF Zephyr, the free one with the max upload of 50 photos. As recommended by @JMS1972.
Better, but still needs work around the horn etc. I will try it on a white background like I said. Unfortunately that means I have to go back tomorrow night...

If they are Matt black yes probably. If they have the remains of a million dish of the days they maybe notPub has a few blackboards, any good?
Tried photographing the cow ornament in the dim light of the pub last night (as I forgot Friday night )
Did it against a menu blackboard. Results were absolutely dire. 3DF Zephyr could create nothing intelligible nor could Meshroom.
