How do you spell grocery aisle?
The correct term for the space you walk up and down in a store is “aisle.” Since “isle” is an island, saying shopping isle would be totally wrong.

I had a Parkside Dremel type tool, was ok but the battery was poor

I also bought a comprehensive set of Aldi Ferrex tools. Considering what people had said I was very disappointed, gave them to a friend for light DIY use

I do however have an Aldi torque wrench, paid £1 on clearance and had it checked while some other gear was being done, surprisingly accurate

I should maybe clarify the intention of this thread is simply to highlight what's out there at any given time or coming up soon that may interest some members.

If members are not interested in middle aisle tools for any reasons including "Not professional quality" etc etc then this not the platform for that debate it's just a simple update thread.

I would like people to make an informed choice. I wanted a second set of tools to keep at home, however a combi drill that cannot drill a 40mm holesaw through a floorboard is not just DIY quality, it is poor quality

Try the drill running in forward mode Had my collection for a few years now and wouldn’t be without it, grinders are a bit woolly but more than useable.

Being honest, I demand a lot from my tools

At the level I was buying for work its down to what colour you like

I got the cordless heat gun. I have a mains one already what I want this cordless one for is my wire repair / soldering bag. I have good cordless irons but I still needed a mains extension lead to melt heat shrink. (Don't like using butane products for that as they can singe the cable sheath)

It has hot air OK but slow. But perfect for £20 and my intended purpose. Took a min but was able to fit a solder heat shrink splice and glue lined cable crimp end with it. On 4ah battery I'll use a 8ah battery on it on use.



It came with plastic carry case, binned that.

I have a few Aldi and Lidl bits perfectly happy for the cost but they are not Milwaukee you do get what you pay for but some tools are so rarely used its not worth the Milwaukee investment

Re heat gun it's faster fan speed on the lower heat setting button. That is very good and quick for heat shrink.

The higher temp setting (slower fan speed) is needed to melt low temp solder splices.

I am impressed by how strong quality crimp and glue lined terminals are. These are dear ones but worth it. Normally I solder all terminals then shrink over then but these are great.

I bought a milwaukee hot air gun, mostly for heat shrink... only used it once... I was seriously disappointed with it, enough that I've never used it again

I'll keep it for emergencies, but probably never use it agiain

You can hardly complain for the price though. Nintey quid for a cordless bandsaw? Steal one bike and it's paid for itself already!

The blower is tempting if it were a handheld.. much bigger than a handheld for storage... And only 1600w?! Most backpacks are 2-3x that.

Magical Middle Aisle of Mystery.

No-one confuses aisle and isle, but some confuse the purpose of visiting Lidl or Aldi with grocery shopping.

Indeed. I went for the purposes of my sartorial elegance recently. Two pairs of thermal Cargo trousers and excellent they are too. £30 the two. Previous to that is was a large white paper roll and a set of drills and taps.

As long as we know what is being referred to it is ok. Otherwise it gets pedantic.

Should that petrol leaf blower be rated in cc as opposed to watts?

On the subject 'noise' & leaf blowers they seem very noisy even the electric ones. The patrol ones would certainly spoil a Sunday morning lay in.
