Middle aisle tools update thread

If anyone's going to Lidls to get a hot air gun or bandsaw, can you pick me up a salami, some Bratwurst and a pint of milk please, and if you can drop them off on you way then that would be even better.
I'd go myself but there's always a big queue.

Always ? I think it's down to time. Same with other supermarkets. Saturdays is ususally madness where ever the shopping is done until after 6.30pm.

This time of year, work on jobs/projects at home. When it gets cold & dark come in for a brew then go shopping.

Yes the bandsaw and heat gun are in NI stores.

There are obviously regional variations on offerings then maybe need to state that each time!

I should maybe clarify the intention of this thread is simply to highlight what's out there at any given time or coming up soon that may interest some members.

If members are not interested in middle aisle tools for any reasons including "Not professional quality" etc etc then this not the platform for that debate it's just a simple update thread.

I bought a milwaukee hot air gun, mostly for heat shrink... only used it once... I was seriously disappointed with it, enough that I've never used it again

I'll keep it for emergencies, but probably never use it agiain

it took forever to shrink heat shrink, even on a full 5ah battery

just really underpowered, I assumed all battery ones are the same, haven't used any other ones to rate it against tho

I gave up and ran an extension, with a mains hot air gun it shrunk quickly like normal so it wasn;t the heat shrink

I've got a Milwaukee one.
It's OK for 3 or 4 heat shrinks, but any more than that, and I'd get a mains one out. It does the job, but it's never going to match a 800W+ mains powered heat gun for speed.

I'd still buy one, if they were slightly cheaper, bjt I think they should be designed/named more as a hot air pencil

I have the Parkside one and it manages heatshrink no problem at all using the supplied stepped adapters like these below, might be worth investing in some to help focus the heat:
