"Grind" really just means off. It wont auto darken. Best not to use a nice lid for grinding and your lens will last longer. The instructions warn it will not protect against disc explosion/failure impacts - are LCD's shatter resistant glass? 
Grinding I swap safety glasses but a proper face shield/mask would be best.
I tried the lower settings for tig, 5-7 would suit very low currents. I'll be using 8-11 mostly.
The extra large spares from a few brands should fit, I can only se the german toolit branded ones with reasonable delivery charge.
Its a chinese lid and I think generic lenses will be perfectly good.
I am after a protective bag to store it in. It will be hanging above lathe and theres a risk of hot swarf. I have motorbike lid bags but they are a bit fluffy and swarf will stick to them!
