Before I took it over for my stuff it had some cupboards on it full of junk I've still got a big shelf half the size of the out house above the bench full of all the Christmas carp you would be amazed if you saw it in real life all the stuff I've got into it while still having enough room to use it all and it is a bench just not a very well made one but my dad did make it and he doesn't like making stuff

Also it must be nice having so much room

Not really, the more room you have, the more stuff you find to put in it! If I want to use my pillar drill I have to move a motorcycle out into the drive and then move the compressor and a generator. Good job everything's on wheels!

Indeed the spindle nose is myforg thread. The drawbar Is 1/4" so you need to make a fitting to hold a 3/8 or m10 mt2 tool holder
The vertical movement is adjustable but the original design allowed the post to swivel, which limits the working mivement to 2" on the quill.

note not all are some have an 3mt fitting and some have the r8

the dore westbury 2 is a better machine than number one

so to help you out

Like I said they were mostly hand made.

Mine has a Crank to raise the head and a two speed gearbox on the rear in stead of over the spindle

I've just got a 3ph motor to replace the original 1ph hoover motor. That's getting a bit passed it. There will be a wee bit of tinkering going on.

Im also planning a stepper motor to power the x axis.

Re the post about a vertical mill on your lathe - I have such a thing on my ml7. It clamps on the lathe bed, leaving you the carriage and cross slide to mount your work on. It has vertical upsy downsy on a graduated wheel, ml7 threaded spindle.
I've seen them on ebay for silly money -£500 - I kid you not, but £200 would be enough to pay I think.

its a hybrid cross between one and mark 2

base is mark 2 the head is thicker used on mark 2 the spindles at top are just belt changes without the epilitic gears

It doesn’t even look like a mk1 the pulley on the top is different

I was referring to the brass looking thing on your picture I hadn't noticed the pully

Pics 3 & 5 look like it's rectangular/square?

At very first glance I thought it was a Dore-Westbury which would command a decent price, but on second looks it's home-made in which case price could be anyone's guess.

@Jlg hasn't said what his maximum budget is yet?
