The door pin extractor from Sealey turned up, I tried a few times with no joy and noticed the extractor was bending very easily.
I tried again and it stripped the threads inside the extractor "nut".
The door pins are old and well stuck but I'm amazed that the threads on the tool let go.
Sealey, mid-priced and they sometimes do what's needed, this one didn't

Better news on the radiator front, a black alloy rad from Ebay + a slightly OTT rad cap are now in place.
The new rad is taller than the original so now I need to rework / remake the original hardline for the brake servo vacuum. Another job for the to-do list ...

Hi. The car is running from a temporary fuel supply as I've not checked the tank & pipework yet, the fuel line will be getting replaced by something modern once testing / fettling is complete

Out of curiosity, what is the problem with the pipe? I thought that type of woven reinforced clear fuel line was standard on British motorcycles for many years ...

Can't answer the specific question on why that hose .

I would say it's good form after many years laid up to replace anything rubber and especially carries fuel if your bring it back to life .

Just my own personal opinion about it , I wouldn’t fit it to anything I valued. Something at the back of my mind tells me it was banned years ago but that could just be wishful thinking

The clear pipe goes rock hard as it ages with petrol & leaks at the jubilee clips, or it used to years ago, I would think it’s still the same.

It goes rock hard and leaks, usually over the exhaust ............. And it goes yellow.

When I worked at a Vauxhall dealer, they had a Churchill hinge pin tool that had a fork that fitted over the hinge with a two foot long pivoted lever with a slot in the end, and a range of short thick cables with a ball at one end, for the slot, and different barrels at the other to suit different pins. No hammering required, and pin removal was the work of seconds.

Those square bar things were carp. Threads always failed, even the Sykes Pickavant ones. I think I still have one somewhere.

More prep work done, first pass with a die grinder for removing any high spots then a dust over with a grinding disk.
A coat of primer so I can see how it looks.
The plan is to go around all the floors then do the seam sealing in one pass.

Spent a while today freshening the pedal box. The car came with brake & clutch pedals that were so looose they moved in 3D I tried and decided I’m not keen.

New bushes fitted on the shaft, and a new flat ground on the shaft to spin it 180* and move the wear marks away from the high pressure areas.


Pedals are now good, a shame the brake light switch exploded while it was sitting on the bench. Old age I guess
