Ps
As regards gear box tunnels ford used to use auto tunneled shells but they where modded for the zf boxes, because when originally fitted it took 3 to 4 hrs to change a box !
I have worked and built on a lot of group 4s over the years and all of them including works ones, and they all had fabricated tunnels including full length exhaust tunnels, to enable a ten minute box change, so saying they have to have auto tunnels for historic would be wrong. As regards historic I dont remember 'full' group 4s with pintos in. I have worked on group 1s as rs2000 etc and group 2s etc. Also a lot of the rules were very much 'relaxed' then apart from some cars being actually made 3" wider not by arches but the whole shell split longditudenally and stretched wider!
Just wondering if you have managed to do any more work to your project?
I've just returned home from a 880 mile round trip to visit Sean at Rallyweld.
A very worthwhile trip, as his knowledge and enthusiasm for building good rally cars is fantastic. It was no trouble to him to spend some time showing me round and explaining a few points for my build. I mentioned to him about your thread on this forum, and he immediately knew who I was talking about.
Left with the back of my Focus estate full of bits, and myself full of enthusiasm to get on with my project.
For anyone else out there doing rally car projects, can't recommend him enough.
