Motor Start Capacitor

30 mfd is very small for a 3hp 1phase motor it should be around 120 it may be a run cap more than likely the start winding is burnt out.

I believe the motor will be 2800 rpm with a 40uf cap. I had a compressor that had an abac pump but was rebadged ingersoll rand. Motor id plate was on top of the motor junction box. Are both the brass links ok, have seen them crack in the past and cause problems

ABAC confirm that the motor is 2.2Kw /3HP, favtory fitted with 40uf cap.

I have the same with same value replacement cap.

Only issue is its toooooooo bloody cold to be dicking around with the comp in the workshop

Plan of action is to try the motor without belt and see what happens. Could be the motor or start circuit, or cooled be on the air side of things
