Should the chain not be replaced before it is totally worn out
Yes, it shouldShould the chain not be replaced before it is totally worn out
I beg to differ, but fair enough. I stand by what ive posted and evidence provided and its free for everyone to view and make their own minds up.Enough said I think..
I agree with that.Anyone who rides a bike with a chain so worn it snaps, maybe shouldnt be riding bikes at all, as they are an accident waiting to happen.
Abrasives on aluminium tend to smear with it as they take it to its elastic state. This causes alsorts of contamination issues. Sanding, grinding discs are not a good practice to clean Alu as it tends to make things worse. A mechanical removal is the best approach. What's the reason you don't use abrasives?

What made the chain snapIs anyone implying that my chain was in poor condition or improperly adjusted?
No ones in a position to imply anything about your bike as it cannot be judged by words on a forum. I was just agreeing with Chris (for once) that a rider SHOULD know exactly how to maintain the vital items on his bike.Is anyone implying that my chain was in poor condition or improperly adjusted?
Some owners don't have a clue, this one was surprised when I told him his chain needed replacing!

Good question. I always keep a good eye on everything on my bikes, i dont want the inconvenience of being stranded. What made the chain snap
GP/WSB/BSB bikes snap brand new chains on the sighting lap
1/4 mile runs will soon wear em out.I scrapped a brand new premium quality chain in 16 miles. Broke some rollers and a tooth off the front sprocket. Bent all the pins in the chain too.

Strange to hear that...............as chain breakage on any sort of race bike could very easily be fatal.
