All the talk of bikes, I decided to get the Evil Sovereign from the back of the garage. Other than flat tyres it didn’t need anything else attending to. The gears are still smooth and even the Rockshox Reverb dropper post didn’t need anything and they where infamous for seals going if you even looked at them wrong.
Cleaned the brake discs and fitted new pads in an effort to get rid of the brake squeal. Lots and of riding up and down the street doing some hard stops to get some heat iand bed the pads in but they still squeal like a pig.
I was hoping to get the dog alongside me on rides but the squealing is frightening and freaking her out, which is a shame as she enjoyed running fast and paced herself next to me without tugging on the lead.
The bike felt great to ride again even if it was a bit more effort from myself to get it up to speed. Unfortunately I forgot how sharp the pins are on the pedals and now have some additional cuts that will add to the other scars on my shins.
it’s scary how much I spent on this bike. Lots of Shimano XT with a touch of Saint along with a good helping of Hope and lots of blue anodised bits to tie it all in.

brake cleaner from a tin, then boiling water and 800 wet n dry used to do the trick
