Clunk clunk clunk…
Mines full of sand and no way to get it apart to clean the innards (riveted).
It’s a Britool - see photo. But that nail through it is a mystery- seems it’s just blocking up the hole to keep dust out. Tempted to remove it and plug the hole with something better, but before I do, wanted a 2nd opinion. Whole set was only ten quid, no actual use for it yet, but for that price couldn’t resist.

I expect it is actually spring steel? Likely the end of the spring which operates the ratchet mechanism?

Hi again.
Studying your enviable boxes of Britool sockets, do you know the model of the 3/8" drive set?
Any chance you may have a component list for it?
I have just acquired the same set with a few extras and a few missing. Mine is not crackle finish but smooth, so I guess a bit newer tho still the knurled handle to the ratchet and the same font on the tools.

Lovely eh. Got a set of JBS ones at work and the tolerances are shocking. Cheap multi-dip chrome, Chinas finest. Might bring in the Britool to work.

New almost complete refrigeration set. It’s missing 3 whitworth sockets, a flexible extension, and an inhex 1/4 drive piece, that will be impossible to find!

Found a 13/16 spanner. This completes the AF lineup bar two monsters I’ve still to find.

Then I had a good day as I managed to find a metric set missing some numbers but importantly had the 10mm socket in it! This was quickly pilfered and placed into the big set, this one now has sockets from 6mm through to 21mm. Complete. Great!
I had enough spares to make up the original set as an AF set (complete complement of sockets including the spark plug socket which was missing).
