Guys. It's been bugging me what these are for. They came with the machine. Various sizes and have a slight dome to them. Almost like they had a belt run on them.
I noticed the scraping. There is a lot of that on the box ways and compoundLook Moore pattern scraping pre dating Moore jig bores
It's a big gear head lathe that has its original motor. They might not have been anything to do with the Harrison but I found them in the lathe stand along with the lathe dogs."Guys. Just a guess but what about belt drives for overhead shaft options
It does. These parts were full of crud.Always amazes me how dirt manages to find its way into sealed off bits of castings!
To be honest Carl I am not 100 percent sure. It looks to be original. There are no model numbers or machine numbers on the Harrison. I spoke to Tony at lathes uk about it. He wants to do a page on the Harrison. The company I acquired the machine from have the documents for it somewhere it's just finding them...the machine is similar to the very early Harrison l5 but a lot bigger.I wish I had even the merest glimmer of knowledge about scraping. It's white man's magic to me!
I've only just discovered this thread but so glad to have done so. I enjoy seeing machines being restored and I learn so much that I can apply to my own projects.
Your Harrison lathe is built like a brick shipyards toilet. One thing I was wondering was is the cross slide handwheel original? It predates the "safety neuroses" smooth handwheels on the M series Harrison lathes by 70 years!
