Wow I never knew such a thing existed. Like Blakey's for hooves. Or football boots for horses.
Presumably for racing and hunting? Not good on the road I would imagine.
Do you drill and tap the actual hooves, or just the iron shoes?
Amazing what you learn on here!

I'm not too sure what football is either!

You either punch or drill holes in the shoes and tap them.
That set is for an owner and the tap in it is for cleaning the thread out. You then stick the studs in temporarily while the horse is running on grass.
They normally put them in just before they run then take them out again soon after.

Between my misses and 2 kids they will have 12-15 horses plus maybe 5-8 horse that are for selling/dealing a bale lasts a day anyhow and shoeing/trim up once a month is about £300 the farrier spends a full day hear

A few years ago I worked out Mrs Robo's horse cost just over a £100 a week to run I wish I hadn't

She's just had a new saddle made, cost the best part of £2k, but she already has 3 others, why does one horse need 4 saddles?

bet that hurts if they give you a kick i quite often work in stables or around them doing wiring allways park the van well away and wary taking stepladders in around them racehorces are real skittish and spook easily

and tall , its very strange to be looked down on by something ,,, gives you a sense of perspective .


and unlike cattle , no point in chasing them if they decide to wander off in the wrong direction , boys they dont arf shift gov.

Dont know what SWMBO pays for them atm but they must be north of £25 each.

The big square bales are around £100 a bale for decent stuff down this way. Although last year was a bad year for making particularly barley based straw etc., so prices were pretty extortionate.

And I wanted Bodger, it bit more apt really, but someone already had it. Never heard steel tips called Blakey’s, but we went to school in bare feet & wrote on slate with chalk in my day

The little pin bits inserted into the ends of the studs are tungstan carbide.

Might be useful if you want to make some little feet that grip nicely onto a tarmac surface?
Or something adjustable to slide something hardened along?
Although I can't really think of many imaginative uses for them...

The tungsten tips would be great as feet for Camera & Telescope tripod's, or a Benchrest rifle pedestal.
