A few years ago I worked out Mrs Robo's horse cost just over a £100 a week to run I wish I hadn't

She's just had a new saddle made, cost the best part of £2k, but she already has 3 others, why does one horse need 4 saddles?

I reckon a quick look in your toolbox will give her enough ammo to answer that question

I didn't know horses played football.

When I were a nipper, wrecking my back learning to shoe horses, we fitted these sometimes. I'm struggling to remember if we called these frost nails or if frost nails were actual nails with a pyramid head instead of nailing down flush, and these had another name. @hotponyshoes, put me out of my misery?

Frost nails are actually nails.
Still in use today but I hardly ever see/hear about them being used in the UK any more

We used to call them segs and they were mostly in leather heeled brogues when I had them. You could really slide in them.

Yes! Thanks, it was over forty years ago and I second guessed myself!
I see it's still mustad making the nails then. I was amazed recently to see the range of shoes available off the shelf, from Holland I think? I spent several days a week making shoes as the only ones from a bag were bakers, in about six nearly fit sizes. Absolute rubbish and my boss wouldn't use them.
