Off at a bit of a tangent; last week our driveway alarm went off at 2330 hrs but by the time I managed to check the CCTV I just make out someone walking away along the pavement.

I reviewed the CCTV the next morning and to my surprise I had recorded a chap taking a dump in my raised border.

It’s a strange world and just as you think that you’ve seen it all, someone comes along on a Saturday night and totally raises the bar for weird.

I was looking out my front window one day last week, some guy walked by with a dog on a long lead, trailing behind him. Dog stopped, had a dump on my lawn, guy studiously ignored it and kept facing forward…..until I rapped loudly on the window and pointed at the dung.

The guy pretended he couldn’t see it, so I went out to show him….. but I couldn’t see it myself, until I realised the guy had stood on his own dogs dung. I left him trying to clean up the mess with poo bags.

Every time I walk my own dog around the village I see several small piles… probably this same guy, pretending he’s not seeing his dog nipping one off.

got a church goer /supporter in the street , in daylight walks the dog up the fields , i kept seeing our front security light go on about bedtime and caught him stood there letting the dog do its business right at my gate so i banged on the window and pointed , he wont look at me now lol

alot of em will let em sh*t anywhere if they think no one is looking , dirty c***

Eldest son's CCTV caught an archetypical little old lady digging up newly planted shrubs from his garden.

Made a change from the local drug dealer setting up his usual stand.

My wife knew someone that was a National Trust warden & they reckoned the worst was WI coach trips, some there would dig up the plants in the borders & leave it like a swarm of locusts had been through. Just can’t tell.

I have watched quite a few people, after their dog has crimped one off on the pavement, go through the charade of getting a plastic bag out of their pocket, then stooping as if to pick it up, THEN have a crafty look round to see if anyone is watching, and if they think not, get up and leave it.

There’s a tree in Huntly, near the Dean’s shortbread factory, with about 50 full DSBs hung in its branches like christmas decorations. Not sure why. The turds would be gone by now if they’d just been left.

Out here in the sticks, the chickens follow the dog on his morning walk, waiting for a ‘hot breakfast’.

And if they do pick it up they wait until nobody is about and then chuck the bagged poo on ground. I used to see at least one like that every time I took my own dog out.

That's one of the things that annoy me - if you're not going to dispose of the bag, don't put the stuff in it in the first place, just flick it out of the way so that people won't step in it. Though it wouldn't be great for the team of volunteer litter pickers that come around cleaning up after all the other lazy t**ts that can't take their KFC wrappers home and put them in the bin.

We had an issue with shrubs being pulled up and thrown around the garden...checking the CCTV revealed that it was our local fox...it was very odd to watch!

As for dogs ...they need a DNA register...then start finding the offenders owners!

Some of these posts keep reminding me of my father and his own inventive ways of dealing with problems!


He lived in a quiet cul de sac and spotted that each morning around ten a car would pull up. The man would produce his dog from the back and proceed to let it do its business on the verge, then back in the car and away.

My father stood at the gate one morning with a newspaper in his had. The dog was in mid motion when my father started roaring at its owner that “if he wanted to have a sh%*e as well he had some newspaper that he could use to clean his a%*e with as well”.

The car was never seen on the street again!

Seen a video of a Guy whose office desk is beside a window over His alley between two buildings. When He sees some one doing inapproperate business in His alley he turns a garden hose on that is controlled by a switch on His desk. blast of cold water wakes The jerks up, and being a garden hose nozzle means They cannot see from whence it rains down. He started taping Them for awhile.

Getting back to the original event in this thread: it can be quite a shock when you discover "regular" people can be so "disappointing".

As great fan of Dr. Jordan Peterson, it reminds me of a quote from the man himself:

"I am half Hobbes, half Rousseau, that's why I am not an ideologue. I don't think people are good or evil, I think they are both".

I tend to agree. There is good and bad in us all.

That would be your ancient mammalian brain (which itself is wrapped around an even older reptilian version).

The Hobbes/Rousseau debate relates to how our civilised selves are inclined to behave towards authority and how we agree to moderate our behaviours within a civilised society. That's your cerebral cortex were talking about, the weird mutation which distinguishes us from animals.

I rather suspect a typical human does a very good job at pretending to be "a good person" and the mask slips only when they think no one is watching.

Notice how we are "inclined" to pander towards authority and "agree" to moderate our behaviour when in truth our civilised behaviour is a mask and we are all 24 hours and two meals away from barbarism (a quote from god knows where).

Well I have a particular interest in the structure of the brain due to a rather unfortunate personal circumstance. Apologies if this appears off topic but the original story highlights certain aspects of human behaviour apparently at odds with our perception of "norms".

This article might pique your interest if only for the headline "pop science" fact that our brains are like a crocodile in a dogs embrace (I read a book with that title years ago but Google comes up blank).
