New engine driven welder (to me)

Thanks for the help, have emailed a few companies with pictures and they are going to get back to me about getting it rebonded. In the mean time I have started to look at the wiring, it looks like some of the current regulation part is missing, any ideas ?

You might find there are shims under the generator head to help line up the drive If that alignment is out it can cause the coupling to fail in a short time.
I do work for a guy with pumps and we have to shim both the engines and the pump head to get within a certain tolerance, you proberly would be better with the fenner tyre coupling you could have a shaft welded to the flat flange then machined to a diameter and use two taper lock bushes one on the original shaft and one on the new shaft, to a new fenner coupling which will stand quite an amount of missalignment.

A few pics from today, took the bonnet off to get the fuel tank out as it has debris in the bottom, fuel gauge is getting a new glass too. New fuel and oil filters and cleaned out the suction screen from the sump.
Spoke to M R Engineering in Birkenhead as they deal with motors and motor drives and they are getting me a price on a fenner drive coupling to suit.

Hello Norm, yes spoke with Dave and he is very helpfull but shuts at 4:15pm and is 'definately' not open on the weekend so just as soon as I can get some time off I will be over there to see him.

There is a BSL Brammer branch down here in ellesmere port. They do a range of couplings - but they do know how to charge.

I was there at Daves today went to look at some pallet racking got a old EX WD 240V soldering iron 250W !! got a copper tip on it that weighs about 1/2 KG! it was hardly used.
I might be going over again to pick up the racking so poss could have look for you if you could show me what you need.
But it is worth going just to look at what hes got !!! I can spend all day there. We bought an ex ministry Bomb loader just for the hyrostatic pump and motor for the boat I'm building, check out the 'just linking three threads' . we even got the water cooled FL4 lister engine from him 1948 ish ex ministry done 50hrs work and an oak box with every spare in it apart from the block crank and head! I asled him for jerry cans one day he said their in that warehouse over there I opened the door and it was FULL to the roof.

Hello all, a few pics of today's work. Managed to unsolder the ends of the fuel tank so I can get in and clean it out properly. Always wanted to solder a fuel tank so I now have the chance !

The fuel tank gauge is coming on ok too.
As the welder came with no doors I am going to fabricate some myself and am not sure whether to use plain 1mm steel sheet or try and find some with louvres in, any ideas ?

Fuel filler coming up nicely also. Does anyone know where I can get some louvered doors ? Need some about 36" by 36" and four of for the side panels.
