New Speedglas G5-01

When I bought my speedglas I was trying to check the FPP rating on the filters but I seem to remember I had trouble finding the rating...may be different these days?

I always use mine with the carbon filter...but it does reduce the run time I think.

all i know is the adflo he filter is p100. 99.97% filtration of particuls .3 micron and larger. i dont know about gas or vapors. maybe thats why theres other types of filters that can be fitted to the adflo ?

Really I'd describe the three colours as Gold, Violet and Natural. Certainly no red or green shades. I used an ESAB helmet once that had a amber/red ADF. Brilliant lens.

in all seriousness have you had your eyes ever checked ? the colors are blue ,orange and natural like the xxi. theres no debating what the colors are to a good set of eyes. wanted to let this die but some of your comments are rediculous

Does it matter how each individual perceives the colours? Unless you're wanting to colour coordinate with the workshop curtains .
The three colour thing is verging on gimmick anyway. I prefer the blue for low amp tig and natural for everything else but it's a very slight preference.
The biggest issue with the G5, as Brad has pointed out, is dust getting past the inner lense shield onto the adf!!
Without sealing it with tape it gets covered in dust and I for one don't want to be wiping the actual adf screen.
I don't suffer with dust coming though the air filter, even during plasma cutting heavy enough to block the filter in 10-20 minutes.
The clear visor parking in the up position is utter crap, doesn't work to the point that I never use it. Helmet is either on my bonse or hanging up.
I dont regret buying the G5 set up, but at £1300 odd quid there are issues you shouldn't have to put up with!!!

@trigger3 ive personally seen the aftermath of brads problem with his adflo. 3m might make great gear, but even they make errors/have product issues, hence the recall on all the versaflo filters.

it doesnt matter what color the person sees. except as i said before ,the real colors of the lens are blue and orange if you have proper eyes. not magenta. not red. not purple. not gold. not yellow. if your eyes ate **** ,theres no telling what color youll see.



the blue color spectrum like the g5 01, is also the same thing lincoln has been using on the 4c for a number of years. tons of youtube videos about it. alot of people like the blue. but of course not everyone does. the new miller clearlight 2.0 is also blue from what ive been told.

But there is one thing that really irritates me
If i weld, than right next to the puddle i see an reflection or somenting. Like a spot. I think maybe becouse the face shield special coating. Anti condens and anti schratch.
I had an fx and dont had this problem with it
With a normal coated face shield. Does every one experience this?

It's called a ghost arc and it happens with all these new helmets that are very clear and often have curved lenses. The esab suffers the same problem.
