Yep love the speedway, the speed bump takes some getting used to but god I do like it! The only downside is the ck sheath is nicer than the weldtec one, they may get switched over

I didn't realise how hot a ck9 gets when bashing through the exhausts. I can touch the tungsten and ceramic with bare hands almost straight away below 60 amps!
Cooler is doing a fantastic job mate. I just need to sort out a trolley for the tig so cooler can sit underneath as I've got tig and cooler sat side by side on the table at the minute which is taking up a lot of space.

It does but it then sits too high on my bench to reach comfortably. Also I'm far too clumsy to have it unsecured on there.

The pipe was if I remember correctly a FMF for a Honda CR motocross bike. Presumably some alloy of grade 2, probably Chinese made, they don't retail for a lot so that's just my guess.
I patched the hole in the link pipe which was sort of oval in shape with grade 2 1mm sheet and the downpipe flange also in grade 2.
I purged for about 4 minutes then turned it down. Got a stainless brush cable tied to a rod down inside the link pipe to clean the worst of the soot.
The flange was tricky as my stop was getting in the way and the tape melting and coming loose. I ran a higher purge due to gas I was loosing (the crack was large think someone else had a go repairing it).
Tacked the patch then shaped with panel beaters hammer and held with vise grip clamps because titanium is so springy. Worked tack by tack slowly pulling it in. Fitup wasn't perfect hence the slightly messy beads but the purge worked good enough and I had silver backside and just light gold on the outside.
Customer was happy. Took me two hours including shearing the patches. Charged £60.
Used a fair bit of gas. Not sure if that was cheap or dear.
Picture is inside the flange. As you can see silver backside. Probably some carbon inclusions due to soot embedded in the exhaust but I'm sure it will suffice for a crosser.

Yes I'm quite lucky that the exhaust company I contract for had some "scrap" sheet for repairs. I was like I'll have those bits haha! They've got some lovely 2mm thick Grade 2 but some proprietary alloy that I haven't found out about yet.
Also have a small bit of Ti6Al5V Grade 5. Not much use for exhaust repairs too stiff

Is there any way to tell what grade Titanium is?
Reason being is I have a lump of what I presume to be titanium, it is about 10 or 12mm thick, 150mm across and probably 400 long. Originally the guy that brought it in to me thought it was stainless and was wanting me to make a roller bracket for him. I picked it up and knew right away it wasn't stainless as it was so light but also knew it wasn't any grade of Alu so just presumed it was Titanium. Did a grind test on it and the sparks were numerous and a brilliant white.
I had a go welding it and it was nice, just cut a couple of slivers from it to use as a filler.

Nope youd need an expensive bit of equipment to tell, the name escapes me now. Generally I've only come across GR 1, 2 & 5 in thin sheet form but thick plate I have no idea what it could be. There are something like 22 AWS recognised grades of titanium.
