Would garages have a tax free pump for folks like me?, my tractor never goes on the road and my stationary engines just sit on the grass merrily chugging away

You already can get the tax back - but you have to apply to the “customer & exercise” mob, jump through umpteen hoops and then hope they agree with your claim.

“Report“ generates an alert to all of us, tagging one of us does just that, and is easily missed.

It's not hard people... if you are too old to use a smartphone or computer we had amazing things called diaries, some of which you could put on a wall so you could see it every time you went in a room, in case you couldn't open the little book.

For the more technically minded we have computers, smartphones and tablets that all have diary and daily reminders.

If you are unable to master these technologies I suggest you are possibly unsuitable to be let loose in a motorised vehicle

Even simpler . . . I have a post-it note stuck to the edge of the shelf above the computer I'm typing this on . . . lists the four cars I need to tax, MOT, insure etc, and the dates they need it.

One of them still has a small round coloured reminder to tax it in a holder on the side . . . sometime in 2014 as mentioned my MOT tester last month

In our household, when you forget to register / pay or whatever and get dinged with a fine we call it "the stupid tax". You just pay up, and learn a small lesson...

My son (20) just learned a big lesson when he tried to go on holiday with an out of date passport! That cost him a massive dose of "stupid tax"

I think if the new price is above 40k then they already pay road tax?

Not at the moment , but I’m sure it’s coming.
I think it’s more to do with the current cost of EV’s being so high that £40k doesn’t necessarily buy you a “luxury” motor.

Mind you , the whole additional year 2-5 “luxury” car tax is just another rip off. You are already adding more to the “pot” by buying a more expensive car in the first place. But hey ho , easy targets.

Me too, as we were testing N2 EMP weapons in the Hafren Forrest.
