Why bother going to an art gallery to look at art? Why bother listening to music?

All it does is change chemicals around in your brain.

I mean, what's the point in that?

Because it's fun to experience an alternative reality.

It's hard to compare a spiked drink to a planned experience.
I'd be majorly ****** of to find I'd kidnapped and taken to Iceland. But if happily holiday in Iceland

I invested in NOS a while back, all the proper Wizard of Nos kit.

In hindsight my GTO was already running way over what it should (2bar boost on hybrid TD04-16g turbos).

Nitrous finished it off!.

Looked at my data logging after the even and not a hint of knock detected before the event, just pure mechanical damage!.

Still got all the gear, was going to try it on a naturally aspirated car next but never got around to it.

Rebuilt my GTO-TT with a later 4 bolt main engine with forged crankshaft so I suppose some good came out of it!.

I recall years back (documented on here at the time) I had a chat with a Calor agent about their cylinders.

He exclaimed "You'll kill yourself", to which I countered,

"Well, I did it last week, and we are having this conversation right now"


Im told I spent two weeks in hospital once. I don't remember being there. I don't remember for a while after either. I do recall having to ask someone what year it was...

Cars are just some man made thing. They're entirely unnatural.

I wnt though a period of using those little canisters all the time. It is a pain killer. Doesn’t last long but it works instantly. So if you have ricked your back and just can’t get it out of a painful spasm, a couple of whiffs of NOS does wonders.

I still have all the little bottles. Bound to come in handy for something….

Generally speaking my posts take more than a mere few seconds to construct.

I guess you haven’t tried NOS. It lasts a few seconds….

Bit like going under an anaesthetic, that lovely warm feeling, peaceful, painless except with the NOS, it’s over almost as soon as it begins. Plus it’s handy if you need to whip up some cream. Apparently.

The lads from Teesside might remember from the mid 90's a Dodge Viper in red, we had that on NOS too and the only reason we didn't log 200mph in it was we didn't have the bottle to shift up at 180, the thing was a bit "unstable" and required both hands on the wheel.

For the record I haven't touched anything for years, but I did have a great time in my youth

And no regrets at all, it was fabulous!

I recall during the 90's when we used to take the rescue ambulances over to the isle of Man for the car rallies one year we were told to remove the Entonox (NOS) sets into the hotel with us overnight as there was someone on the Island breaking into ambulances to steal them for "recreational purposes"

I live in a quiet town in NI and still can smell weed EVERY time I am out cutting the grass etc. (Pun not intended)

Out walking the pooch I smell it too. Seen 2 middle aged women smoking what must have been a "joint" on a public footpath in plain view outside a supermarket. I know nothing of these things but find it amazing the brazen types out there who the police walk past. I've also smelled it from the open window of cars in front of me in mornings on motorway etc! Only one person driving so it was them smoking.

I had never smelled weed in my life until in California about 5 years ago. Here is now about the same.

A guy who work in the fabrication shop next to my machine shop used to smoke weed while working. He gave me a puff on it one day, and it damn near knocked me out for several hours.
That was back in the 80's, when it was still very much illegal and frowned upon, but nobody seemed bothered by him smoking at work.
Maybe the fumes and smoke from numerous welders and grinders covered the smell, so they had no idea.

An American friend of mine introduced NOS to the local ex pat drag racing guys, when I lived in the Philippines in the 90's. They thought it was the best thing since sliced bread, and then proceeded to regularly wipe out and melt down several motors each before they realised it is very powerful, but very tricky to harness properly. There's a fine line between high horsepower.... and piston melting burning hot detonation explosions.....

Most gave up on it after a season or two.

Enlighten me... How can the wilful ingestion of toxic substances be regarded as "pleasure" unless one is already mentally deficient? Just WHY do some people actively pursue the feeling of "drunkeness / drug high" or whatever? It happened to me when I was sixteen, from someone adding stuff to my drink and I can still recall the feeling to this day of being paralysed, lying on the front doorstep yet fully concious. Never EVER would I want that feeling again.

Because it feels good? Maybe even feels great?
Maybe your experience was horrible, but not many of us end up totally paralysed yet conscious after a few drinks, smokes, or a little of any other recreational drug.

I worked with a guy in the '90s and I asked him why he smoked so much weed and did the bother stuff like speed, tabs etc.

He looked me straight in the eye and said "I like it".

Ive not done any narcotics in about 20 years, but just because I never get around to it, rather than any real decision.

However, there are a few that I'd really do my best to avoid -

Speed, alcohol, and mandrake* come to mind very rapidly.

*anyone overly familiar with Shakespeare's McBeth will recognize mandrake from the witches meddling.
