By far and away it's got to be the guy holding the stinger that's the biggest factor
True enough but without gaining a certain skill level many won't find the difference in the better rodsThe more help he can get the easier it is
What level of skill? To tell the better rods apart? I have to disagree after half a dozen! That level of skill is usually reached after half a dozen rods. You give a guy who has welded for less than five minutes a rod that strikes up clean and is tolerant of varying arc length and he'll notice the difference.
we use both bohler 6013 and phoenix blau on slip on flanges for gas pipes vertcial down on electrode negative. on flanges rolled or done downhand its fincord
all 6013 but brand specific on procedures thats the catch .me i like the bohlers fantastic finish
Yet marked 7018 with loyds approval, I dunno just going on what it states printed on box7048s are vertical down 7018s
Dont know either but they can quote Lloyds Approval if its only tested downhand........The inspector should pick it up thoughYet marked 7018 with loyds approval, I dunno just going on what it states printed on box

Some companies choose to use different classifications if it suits their customers.
Filarc 27P was very commonly used vd but they class it an E8018-G
So even when positions are indicated on the package Along with loyds approval - it could be approved in one position? In this case maybe just downhand as you suggest? And not in negative - just positive?
I have to say I can't think of why anyone might need negative approval and the wp should qualify those bits right?
I have used these v- down but just putting on non critical stuff and they performed well the puddle freezing quick enough to form a nice bead form - not the flattened out rubbish you normally have chase you down with 7018 / 6013 rods
Pre- Ce marking stock so I bought a whole bunch of them all non certified stuff of course anyway and I am good to keep them here
So they test a wire with Mig and the approval is ok for the same composition wire in Tig form.
Have I understood correctly?
