They mostly last for one year so sometimes if the sales are too low the cost of the approval just doesnt justify it. Thats what happened with Jims customer there was no one else who needed LR approval so its a simple profit and loss situationI note it's updated annually, meaning past approvals are out of date perhaps?
And so the LR list may include it but the tests havent been done
In the majority of cases the fabricator doesnt really need the approvals but its become a sort of kite mark or a sign of good quality. Approvals were designed to provide assured products for ship building but there are many excellent products that will never go near a ship so the approvals are a waste of time and money really.
