My grandfather used to plug the iron into his lightbulb socket,silly old git......always remember the cord coming down from the socket.

well in them days they wast any sockets to plug things in to that would explain why ive wired houses that didnt have electric at all 30 years ago

We must have been posh in the 60's, we one 15A socket upstairs and one downstairs

mams councill house had a 13 amp socket fitted on the landing one in kitchen and one in sitting room . they even fitted an emersion heater on a timer
