old rev counter needs a new face

This is a positive film printed from the artwork on special inkjet transparency film. It's reversed so that the emulsion side of the film will be against the photoresist film when exposing the metal plate. It will be a few days before I have a chance to try it out, as some supplies have just been ordered. I plan to make a couple of reproduction data plates for my 1954 Dodge M37 at the same time.

Had a bit to do to get this rev counter working it is geared 4-1 the only one I have to fit the dynamo from the sprite was busted the brass had cracked in half where it fits to the dynamo. I was lucky there was a stub left on the casting which I was able to cut a thread BSB 26tpi turned up a new bit of brass threaded it to screw on to the casting then silver soldered to the body bored it to size for the drive to be supported ready now for when the replacement face for the clock gets here.

Is it exactly 4:1 or can you verify the gearing? That would explain the 4.4-1 below the spindle in the photos of the samples we are using.

Is the small 90 degree box you show a simple 1:1? If so, the overall ratio will be determined by the crank and dynamo pulley diameters.

The dynamo driven drive is a 4-1 to match the revcounter why they are quoted at 4.4-1 I do not know it could be for racing the climax engine has a larger than std dynamo pulley as the engine usually runs at high rpm.?prob to save the dynamo

Based on a photo of a slightly different rev counter dial face that @lotus 30 sent me, I made a few modifications to the artwork and made a couple of dial faces from it on .025" aluminium. These were made with a photoresist process and chemically blackening the aluminium. The characters are aluminium coloured. I'm looking for a source of 'permanent black photosensitive photoresist film' that I could use on white-painted metal to produce actual white characters, although I think it looks quite good with the alu-coloured characters...not much different from white when viewed against the black background. I did find a manufacturer and requested a sample, but I haven't heard back from them. In the meantime, silkscreening white on black anodised aluminium would be an option, as long as the silkscreen can reproduce the smallest text well. The dial is only 2.9" (74mm) in diameter, so the text is really small.
