only if the oil is tested even if it has pcb in its not a problem. your not exactly washing your hands with it . thousands of trannies and capacitors still have it in and are in daily use .the only time its changed in 11k or bigger transformers is if its contaminated with carbon and gets replaced and properly disposed off

best bet with that is clean it off with a wire brush lift the tranny out with a hoist . if the oil is clean refit it back in if theres a bit of water in the bottom but the oil is clean syphon it out in to a drum and clean the crud out and fill it back up . lift the cap of the mains connector on top and make sure the cable isnt perished .if it is replace it if not its good to go and try. you could do a flash test on it if you had a megger no big deal if not though. at the worst the coil could be damaged but just try it

thats just shoddy ,,, they obviously had no brake pipe that day , I think thats what your meant to use .

best off soldering it in so ive been toldWell there's your problem, we all know copper is better, less likely to blow.
I've refurbished a few of these & its pretty much as @DSR & @brightspark have said. Any water or crud will sink to the bottom so if you are careful you can suck it out with a vacuum oil extractor like this.

I had one that the water had caused the bottom of the tank to rust badly, I had to paint the inside of it.

Good news is, you can replace the entire machine for something far newer and lighter, that'll run on a 13 amp plug...

there was a fair few 3and 4 jaw chucks and engineering stuff at the sale last saturday going at cheap prices i got a spirax half inch water seperator brand new for 3 quid and a mint dremmel with a carton of accessories for 12 quid . there was a tire changing machine and bar for 12 quid allready made one but should have bought it to sell on . just missed out on a full set of boxford gears for peanuts but a tooldealer beat me 2 it . religeously go to ruffoth and scorton evey month for the last 20 years

yup its people buying stuff off ebay bidding and other outlets at hiked up prices. i have stacks of stuff id sell but carnt be arsed with the post and packing im 2 busy. theirs nowhere near the amount of gear about that they used to be now but still a few bargains to be had .
