Oxy Propane advice again please...to make sure I don't blow up

One thing with tube though.. even packed, how would you bend it without the inside wrinkling? you'd need a die? what about when it's really tight at the top? some sissy bars have almost a 180deg bend at the top with minimal radius.

Asking because I bend my own handlbars out of 1" tube, but have a bender with dies for it. a 3" and a 2" CLR dies.

With both ends capped it behaves just like solid bar heat it up and bend just the same. The sand acts like a mandrel, when you're done either cut the caps off or drill a hole in them and the sand pours back out. With tube you could mount the rear light on the sissy bar and run the wiring through the tube. If you decide to give it a go fill the tube then tap it on the floor or bench and it'll settle quite a lot fill it up again and repeat until you can't get any more in and cap. You can build whole bike frame this way, you can put in bends without needing an expensive bender.

This was a really useful thread to read through. My bandsaw is temporarily out of action so the propane cutting kit will be getting some use over the next few days for sure. Is it “essential” that my propane has a gauge on it? My oxy has but my propane hasn’t and I’m wondering if I should be having one. I’ve always gone by visuals. I have FBA’s fitted to both lines so I’m safe but I think I could be getting better results from cutting if I knew my PSi on fuel. And yes the bangs make me jump to...

ive got gauges on my oxyacetylene welding gear but I never look at them just turn the torch knobs on and turn the regs up till I hear the gas or oxy come out. light up and its generaly about rite. just practice realy
