Nice to see it took off! They look like good strong clips.

I wouldn't bother passivating them if the edge finish is as the "good" one in pic 2. In open, non-corrosive environment, they should be fine as long as they are bright finish... and even if they were oxidised, it'll take a few years to deteriorate any at all.

They will be. I was using old consumables in the cutter to do all the test pieces. Partly being lazy and partly just to cut costs a bit.

I’ll whip round the edges with a flap disk just to knock the dross and worst of the oxidation off. I think that should be ok? I don’t have a tumbler but that could be an option I suppose. Never used one so not sure what I’d need if anything? They’re on Orkney so it’s salty as hell but not corrosive as such. 316 is the grade specified.

I use my cement mixer with sharp stones and water,as I don’t have a tumbler.

Works well,maybe my stones aren’t sharp enough (no granite or flint here),but I need to leave it running at least 3 hours.

I’ll definitively give it a go with the first batch. I’m pleased they’ll be done in batches of a few hundred. Easier to manage and less chance of driving me nuts!!

Now the jig/process is proven you could make a taller version of that jig and stack two or three in there at a time.

The jig works with that diameter pin projecting the amount it does. If you simply double the height, the increased pin projection might mean the diameter is no longer adequate.

Could you make a plywood box and jam ten or more into it so you flap multiple edges in one go (or even a belt sander). Make a second identical box so once the first side is done, you place it on the top, flip it over and remove the first box that is now on top and dress the other side. Something similar for the ends.

Dunno at what stage the holes are made but a jig of two pins that fit the holes would allow you to hoopla many of the blanks, clamp with a couple of wing nuts and dress a lot at a time.
