Pagid brake pads

Always thought Pagid were a decent brake manufacturer. Fitted a set of rear pads to a Kia Venga this evening, the shape of the contact points were no more than vaguely the same shape as the originals. Had to grind a decent amount off them to get them to fit without binding. Really poor quality control. I'd not rush to get them again.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't use Eurocarparts after they refused to refund a MB distributor cap many years ago. They are the main sellers of Pagid stuff hence I don't really use them.

Can't go wrong with ATE, Bosch, Hella or Textar IMO.

No idea, my son's girlfriend's car, she supplied them.

Yes they're the right pad, just the fit was awful, they were binding in the calipers.

Pagid is mid level stuff.
Nothing special, and I have seen some questionable products from them over the years.
I think the most notable was a set of Transit discs, where you could visibly see the venting wasn't uniform or central.

ECP to me is a supplier of last resort, and I have often questioned whether some of the stuff supplied by them is genuine.

I tend to use Pagid or Brembo, and never had any issues until once recently when some new (Brembo) pads needed a tiny bit of fettling on the grinder to fit. Barely 0.25mm but they were nigh-on impossible to fit out of the box. I’m about 15,000 miles in on these pads now and no issues whatsoever.

I've been using allied nippon for a few years and they are decent quality. Oe suppliers to some eastern car manufacturers.

My Pagid front pads have lasted 18k, just about to replace them with another set.

I believe Pagid are owned by Euro car parts. I no longer buy anything from them due to 90% of the stuff I bought being a poor fit or poor quality.

Hella own Pagid . . TMD sold 'em last year.

Edit - Actually a revision to that - Hella only took full control of their joint venture. Pagid does seem to be still a TMD name.

In a previous life at the turn of the century, used to do a lot of work in local TMD factories, I used to be quite surprised what brands they owned.

Sure it’s not corrosion in the calipers?

I’ve seen corrosion on alloy calipers under the stainless steel inserts that act as pad locations, lift the stainless, thus closing up on the pads.

Nope, the fit issue was after thoroughly cleaning the calipers and installing the new stainless guides. The pad metal contact area was simply too big and needed grinding to allow the pad to move.

Good spot anyway. I've seen too many cars where mechanics hammer the pads in with no care or movement at all. No cleaning or ceramic grease on contact points etc. Just a literal pad slap and send it. Horrible

just had to do that on the fiesta i bought recently pads stuck solid in calliper changed the pads and discs in the end brakes grabbing

This is where I am at. Many of the decent names have been bought by companies in the far east that now churn out utter ****e and trade on a once decent brands reputation.

I fitted Pagid discs and pads a few years ago, they were on offer as a set. I was going to get Brembo pads but thought I’d give Pagid a go.
No complaints with the discs, but the pads although worked well, the amount of dust was a bit excessive.
Went back to Brembo pads and much cleaner.
