Parcels in bins!

Mate had a galv bulkhead and chassis ordered for his landy, delivery was delayed and he was heading to aus for a fortnight so emailed the company to say to leave them behind the garage at the end of his (large) private drive. They left them outside the unlocked drive gate on the roadside. Luckily the neighbour spotted it and managed to move it up to the house. no idea what goes through some delivery drivers heads

Check if the delivery is deemed a kerb side delivery as not all drivers have electric pallet trucks or sack barrows for such things .
I've been very lucky , 22 big bales of Irish peat ......shown as kerb side delivery , the guy had an electric pallet truck and a 2 ton tail board lift , he put the pallets well inside my yard gates for me , where they stayed for over seven months .

I spent an hr "quick chatting" with yodel this morning, trying to tell them that the pin on their tracking map is wrong & that my delivery will be going to the wrong address...... Sure enough while I was "chatting" the notification came through of delivery.... To a completely different address
The only option the operator has is to refer to the depot who will investigate, I'm told I'll get an email, it's much rather just have the package

Response from the seller today:

"YODEL said it's been delivered, sorry."

So I have gone back to them saying I'm happy to give them additional time to argue the toss with Yodel, but ultimately my contract is with them, and if they aren't able to either refund or replace, I will have to initiate a chargeback.

It's difficult, I don't want to screw over what's clearly a small business, but at the same time I can't afford to go just throwing money in the recycling bin.

Most courier companies cant find it, so me and my neighbours get all sorts of interesting packages dumped on us.
Have been up there a few times to drop of bits for the log splitter or other machinery, and we are not talking pence.
If you get paid for everything you deliver and punished for everything you dont, how and where it gets delivered becomes secondary.

Yes, I’ve had items come super early before now. However, I just checked tracking, on the jacket I was hoping to wear tomorrow. And from ‘guaranteed delivery by 10pm today’ it’s gone to ‘should be with you by 21st’.

And it was in my doorstep when I got back yesterday afternoon….

And of course I’d not moved my bin into the right place, or put the notice up, as they said it wasn’t coming until 21st

Be a good neighbour print a street map with the names of the houses etc heat seal it and give a copy to you neighbours to display at their gates etc.

I ordered a small portable sheet metal bending break last week, nothing I couldn't fabricate but at the price (for a decent UK made one) and time saving totally worth it.

Yesterday morning I put my recycling bin out before going to help my mate with his van because I knew I'd be back late.

Today I checked the tracking on said bending break and found it was delivered Sunday to "front door", only neither I or my partner were in all day... I then found this hanging out of the letterbox, not even properly posted:

So the delivery provider has put my parcel in the bin that's out in the street for collection, nowhere near my door, stood with all my neighbours recycling bins...

And at 6am this morning the bin men have duly collected the parcel with all my other recycling.


I have contacted the seller telling them they need to initiate a claim with the parcel company, and either replace or refund the item.

The seller, who as a small business presumably doesn't need this hassle has been "reyt with me" from the get-go and I can't fault them for customer service.


But I am flabbergasted at how stupid the delivery driver was, making this whole thing entirely avoidable.

On the doorstep would have been fine, but there's even a god-damned box for parcels by the door!

but was he sttupid , or did he take it as an oportunity to gain ... ? I sent a stick welder , it was supposedly signed for , buyer was decent , I got onto to top bods at parcel company ...the parcel was found hidden in van, when I enquired he was no longer employed.

The chap just replied "sorry that's all I can do".

I assume he's relying on the fact that eBay buyer protection policy would default to his side and automatically close the case because of tracking.

So I've put a chargeback in, and given honest eBay feedback (including the fact he's been polite and easy to deal with, but also I didn't get my stuff and he won't help me).

I feel a bit ****ty, but ultimately it's not personal.

I use PayPal Credit to buy stuff on eBay, precisely because it has the same protections as a credit card (and much better than regular PayPal).

I have to say, so far to date, I've not had an issue with small deliveries being left in a spare bin I have, they just did it, all of them.

I was walking back from my dads house one night, couple of years ago. Some woman stops me and asks if I knew whether the blue bins had been emptied yet. She was stood in her drive, and had a note saying a parcel had been left in the blue bin, that was out at the kerbside.

It was 8pm, and my first thought was to say 'why don't you go look in your blue bin, you stupid mare' but I was a bit stunned by her stupidity, so I never said it, just told her I don't live in that road.

As I walked away I was still wondering quite what was going on in her head.

Oh dear, you may be in for some unwelcome news then. Paypal think themselves judge and jury in such cases and although I don't know about Paypal Credit, Paypal Inc is not a bank and is not governed by UK regulations which is why is only second to cash in protection.

PayPal Credit is a UK registered company that offers revolving credit on the same terms and under the same regulations as any other credit card company.

As far as I'm aware the PayPal bit is largely a branding exercise, and it's actually a UK bank who runs it and gives PayPal a cut of the action.

I know that "normal" PayPal are a bit capricious, and can be randomly unfair to either side with no obvious reason and zero recourse...

Parcel arrived this AM and the R.M. delivery bloke just managed to jam it so tightly into our steel post box that we had to cut the package to pieces to get it out of the box. The post box is on the gate and the other side of the gate ,3 inches away, is a wire crate thing for big items . Quiet lane with no passing traffic and we were in at the time. Still I got an E mail a few minutes later to say that it had been delivered . "yes I know it's been delivered I'm still trying to get the F*****g thing out of the box."

As far as I'm aware the PayPal bit is largely a branding exercise, and it's actually a UK bank who runs it and gives PayPal a cut of the action.

I recall selling £1500 worth of air miles a few years back. The buyer paid by PayPal.

Paypal decided they had to sit on the money for a month, “in case someone claimed it back”…

Of course, there’s no mention of that sort of stunt when you sign up with them.

You lot are worying me now. Just had a customer email to say they haven't received their parcel - despite FedEx having delivered it somewhere (So it's not just cheap couriers that lose stuff!!) At least withFedEx we can speak to someone, not just get answered by a bot.

Really hope it turns up somewhere, as otherwise I'll have to make some more stuff and send out again - which I'd rather not have to do.
