Thanks for that Hareng ,trouble with co2 is temp can make a considerable difference, is it naive of me to think that the police labs might use a standard weight of pellet and tested at the same ambient temperature? not easy to stay legal some times

If your air gun was to be tested by the Police they will test a batch of different pellets, and if CO2 quiet possible at different temps as well. To try and get over the legal limit. But that is all they can do, it must be tested in the condition/state it was seized

Not so sure on that, they will make up their own rules as to what they shoot through the barrel. Wouldnt rule out nails of some sort.
Lets say you were caught doing something you shouldnt and a well legal airgun in posession. They could easilly find a way.

There are supposed guidlines for the testers but its an unknown to general public.
One time we had to collect from a certain nick a confiscated item - over power classed as section 1, made to wait several hours and treated like a naughty schoolboy. Do what you want with it as an RFD at least theres logic in the end.
Upon receipt turns it was legally over power at 13 ft/lb but was told 19 ft/lb! Big difference. Best part is it couldnt have been tested, upon receipt it had a broken sear so wouldnt stay cocked plus some other damage negating it unuseable in its own right. Or you could read between the lines.
Totally had enough of the thing dropped the power well low 8 ft/lb plus 3 days wasted collecting and making new parts etc for £50.

My advice is stay legal if not got a section1 cert for actual rifle, dont draw attention and nothing stupid. The neighbours dont even see me put the cased guns in the car, what they dont know about cant complain about.

It was made of bits i had lying around.

I don't really use it like that now....i have chopped up the stand and used it for something else.

The box bit i just sit on a table and use it for catching the pellets when i use a chronograph. I have some carpet stuffed down the box bit in the back to make it quieter.

I just staple targets to a plank of wood to zero ....much lighter.
