Persistent scammer going on about IPv 4 and IPv 6

Eric or Dave with a strong Indian accent has phoned me today going on about my IPv6 being compromised. I told him to do one, two minutes later phoned again.
This afternoon, his brother Brian phoned. Again, told to do one. Again phoned back almost immediately. He got the full invective.

What are they on about? Do they want my IPv4 address? I don't have IPv6.
What can they do with it if I was silly enough to read it out?

If you're not too worried about the PC, and have some time to waste, string them along and see what they do.

I've done it in the past with an old laptop plugged in to the network.
They wanted remote access, which I gave them, and they accessed the logs. They showed me a long list of Windows errors (which exist on pretty much every installation, but don't actually cause any issues) and as they were explaining that to me they tried to stealthily copy over a program to encrypt and lock the PC so I'd have to pay a ransom to unlock it again.
Unfortunately just as the file was copying, the network cable fell out.
At which point they started asking me to check the network connection, and I strung them along for another few minutes, before asking them if they thought I was stupid, and didn't know they were a scammer.
They got a bit irate at that point and hung up, never to call again

He had lived there for 4 years, the silence from the other end was wonderfull. Then a whole lot I did not understand so I put the phone down

Sod me if a day later I didn't get a parking violation notice for being in the Lidl's carbark to long for their regulations even though I was in the shop all the time .
a day later I also got a text saying if I paid within four days it would be reduced to £30


Coincidence or some crook in the HQ that sends out the tickets trying to get in first ?

I get a regular email with PDF "receipt" for Macafee anfi-virus congratulating me that the purchase has been "pleased" and nearly 300 quid is to taken from my PayPal account. Please ring this number if you have a problem. Yeah, right.

Apart from not having bought it, I use a different email address for my PayPal account user name that I don't use for anything else.

If they are Indian I swear at them in Punjabi, by the time I’ve involved thier mother, sister, pet animals etc they soon hang up and never call back

This is also tactic I sometimes use, not allowing them access but seeing if I can string them along long enough for them to hang up on me. A friend I was visiting once had me in stitches he he played out being the lonely old man who never gets many phone calls, asking how they were doing and how the weather was with them,,, priceless, needless to say the also hung up.

My OH had that recently in a Carmarthen Car Park. It's free after 6pm I think, and she thinks maybe she was there maybe a couple of minutes before... so she thought perhaps it was genuine.
Scammers after her card details!

The thing is, it was so well done & with perfect timing... that you get the idea that either it's someone local, or someone who has access to the Parking Camera Feed perhaps?

Other ones are apparently Scammers sticking their QR code over the Parking Machine QR - so they Scam the fee and your details.
Electronic payments and transactions might be convenient... but the number of inventive ways Crims come up with to steal your money via Electronic Theft, means its also a risky way to pay!

I got a spate of Scam calls to inform me that the Warranty on my Washing Machine was up, and offering me an extended Cover.

I asked the caller what Make machine I had each time. Not one got it right (some even attempted 2 or 3 xtra guesses ). Of course, after a brief exchange each one got a verbal F-off Tablet.

I get loads on my phone at present - you have won this or that....deleted them. The 'AA' were telling me i had won an emergency medical kit. Deleted and ignored. Then the AAA were telling me the same......

I had a call, the usual one, your computer is compromised etc. being as I haven’t actually got a computer somewhat impossible! When I told him this, he said I was telling lies & he would get the police onto me for it. I said “you do that & I will make them a cup of tea” this went on for about 20 minutes, the guy getting more & more irate with me & me laughing at him. He eventually started swearing at me & told me I F’ing well should get one & hung up.

I had had similar so when a foreign sounding voice started asking my details I gave them stick, urgh , this is doctor xxx I am just confirming my home visit for family member ...when she turned up I had some apolagising to do... be aware!

Unfortunately, so many of the scam call centres are located in the Indian subcontinent that as soon as I hear an accent from there I immediately hang up.

Now living in the West Midlands this has caused the @arther dailey phenomenon on two occasions now. One poor bloke tried three times before managing to gabble out who he was from rather than the usual hello, I'm John, I hope you are well type of introduction. I apologized and he said wearily don't worry it happens very frequently and at least you didn't swear at me.

Recently gave up our landline as we have full fibre broadband now and the only phone calls we got were from some nice lady informing us that two Amazon charges had been made to our credit card .... I'll miss her

You can find Hindi for !!"£$%^!! on google they'll show how to pronounce it as well.

If the grammar and spelling had been up to scratch that would probably have given it away on it's own
